The Topics view reads broker metadata without consuming records. It defaults to topics managed by the current project and can show the wider broker inventory. Managed topic names link back to their StreamBuild source definitions and landing health. Topic inventory and source landing state are independent. A broker metadata failure does not prevent the UI from showing retained ClickHouse rows or compiled source definitions. Browsing topics never advances a consumer-group offset. Use Messages when you need to inspect payloads retained in ClickHouse rather than broker-level topic metadata.
